A Clear Picture of Each Part of Your Organization

Briefing pages cover different parts of an organization and are accessible only to the roles that your organization grants permission to.

Org Briefing

The whole organization for a day, week or month, grouped by theme into outcomes, decisions and risks, with the previous period and alerts one tab away.

Team Briefing

Team Briefing opens straight onto your own department’s day with short reads from the top three other departments accessible to your role.

Department Activity

See full daily, weekly or monthly briefings, for current and historic periods, from any department your role can access.

Customer Activity

Every update tagged to the customer, for a day, week or month, grouped by project and ready to read before a call.

One person, one period

Catch Up on Each Team Member

Member Activity puts one person’s period on one page: the written summary of that person’s updates above, and the entries the summary was written from below. Preparation for a conversation, in one read.

  • Before a One-to-One

Walk into the meeting already knowing what the month held, with the entries to point at.

  • After Leave

Coming back from leave, read each person’s month before the first conversation.

  • After a Handover

Taking over a team, read each member’s last month before sitting down with each one.

A reader sees only assigned departments, and a member’s page opens only when that member’s role is one the reader may see.

What a briefing is built on

Briefings You Can Act on with Confidence

Briefings are written directly from your organization’s update entries and connected sources. Members can open only the briefing pages that their role has been given direct access to.

Written from the Period’s Entries

Every briefing is written from the update entries and connected sources in the chosen day, week or month. A period with no entries produces no briefing.

Check the Briefing Against Its Entries

Department Activity, Customer Activity and Member Activity pages list the period’s entries below the briefing for easy cross-reference. Alerts list their source entries the same way.

Rewritten When the Entries Change

Each briefing is saved for the page and period it covers. When someone reopens the page, BeSync’d compares the saved briefing with the current entries and either marks it Stale or writes a new one.

An executive seated left of center at a long pale meeting table beside a wall of windows, a few minutes before the meeting starts. Sitting back with hands loosely clasped on the table, well clear of a tablet propped upright to the right on its stand, its screen a blank pale rectangle. The chairs down the far side are still empty, and two colleagues are walking away through a glass doorway in the blurred background.

Insights and Alerts

Quickly See What Needs the Most Attention

Next to each briefing, the Insights and Alerts tabs identify and point to what needs the most attention.

Insights: Patterns Worth Acting On

The Insights tab on Team Briefing, Department Activity and Customer Activity points out any problems or patterns in the period that are worth acting on. When the period has none, the tab shows No relevant insights and nothing else.

Alerts: Act on What’s Urgent

The Alerts tab on Org Briefing, Team Briefing and Department Activity flags only what is blocked, at risk, escalating or out of the ordinary, most urgent first. Routine work is left out, so a quiet period shows no alerts.

How Alerts Work
Scheduled delivery

Daily Briefings, Delivered on Schedule

Daily briefing notifications deliver the latest briefing by email and in the app at the midpoint and end of each workday, in the organization’s timezone.

  • The email contains the full briefing text, and the in-app notification links to the page it came from.

  • A subscription can cover the organization briefing or any department the person belongs to.

  • Notifications are off by default. Each person opts in, and a manager can subscribe a team member.

Voice, connected tools and an open API

Briefings Built from Every Source of Work

Work is recorded in spoken updates, in team tools and in other business systems. BeSync’d turns all of that work into update entries, so a briefing draws on the work wherever it was recorded, without anyone restating it.

Voice Updates

Team members record short spoken updates, and BeSync’d automatically tags the department, customer and project, then saves each one as an update entry. Speaking takes much less effort than writing and can provide richer content in a streamlined way, which helps keep briefings current and informative.

How voice updates work

Slack, GitHub and Trello

Administrators can easily set up various native and custom tool connections. Activity in those tools then becomes fully tagged rich update entries automatically, so the work reaches briefings without a separate write-up.

Any Other System, Through the Sync API

Other business systems can send work to BeSync’d through the Sync API. The messages then become rich update entries in the same way as activity from a native connected tool.

Questions people ask first

FAQs

How is a briefing different from an internal report?

Reports cover a week, month, quarter or year, follow a template, and go out as a PDF or an email from the internal reporting page. Briefings cover a day, week or month, stay in the app, and are written when a page opens. Midday and end-of-day briefing emails exist as an option, off until somebody turns them on.

Could a briefing include something the reader should not see?

Three checks run before generation: active membership of the organization, the page permission on the reader’s role, and visibility of the department, customer or person named on the page. The query then filters by organization, period and department before any entry is fetched, so material outside the reader’s scope never reaches the briefings.

Is the briefing rewritten every time I open it?

Not always. Each briefing is saved against its page, purpose, date and period. On reopen the saved copy is compared with the entries that would be chosen now. When the saved copy and the current entries differ, a grace window set by the organization (one hour by default and three hours for departments) decides between showing the saved copy with a Stale badge and writing a new one.

How far back can a briefing go?

Any day, week or month that has entries in it. The period is picked on the page itself, and Team Briefing reads one day at a time. A period with no entries produces no briefing rather than a written note saying nothing happened.

What happens when somebody changes role?

Visibility is read from the current role at the moment a page is opened, so the pages that person can open and the scope of each one change at the same time. Saved briefings belong to a page and a scope rather than to a reader, so nothing about the person is stored with a briefing.

Role-based briefings, on demand

Briefings That Show You What Matters, Quickly and Accurately

The organization, each department, each customer and each team member has a current briefing, written from work already recorded. Insights and alerts point to what needs attention, daily emails bring briefings to the inbox, and each role opens only the pages that have been assigned.
